CW710R (chemical designation CuZn35Ni3Mn2AlPb) is a complex, high-strength (α + β) duplex brass defined under European standards including EN 12164 (rods for free machining), EN 12165 (forging stock), and EN 12167 (profiles). Widely categorized as a High-Tensile Nickel-Manganese Brass, CW710R is engineered by combining 58.0% to 60.0% copper and balanced zinc with targeted micro-alloying additions of Nickel (2.0% - 3.0%), Manganese (1.5% - 2.5%), Aluminum (0.3% - 1.3%), and a controlled, lower Lead (0.2% - 0.8%) content. The inclusion of nickel and manganese significantly increases structural strength, elevated-temperature performance, and seawater resistance compared to standard binary or ternary brasses.
