BS:218

BS 218 (governed by the historic British Standard BS 218: Brass Forging Stock and Forgings, later integrated into BS 2872 / BS 2874 CZ122 and harmonized in Europe as EN 12165 CW617N / CuZn40Pb2) is a standard specification for hot forging and hot stamping brass. Structured as a two-phase (α + β) duplex brass with 56.5% to 60.0% copper and a balanced 1.0% to 2.5% lead content, BS 218 is formulated to deliver high plasticity under forging temperatures alongside free-machining performance during secondary CNC finishing.
