CuZn40Pb2

CZ122 (specified under British Standards BS 2872 for forging stock and forgings, and BS 2874 for extruded bars) is the standard British designation for Hot Forging Brass, harmonized under European specifications as EN 12165 CW617N (CuZn40Pb2). Metallurgically formulated as an (α + β) duplex brass containing approximately 58% Copper, 38%–40% Zinc, and 1.5% to 2.5% Lead, CZ122 is engineered specifically for components produced by hot stamping, closed-die pressing, and upset forging. Its duplex matrix delivers exceptional plasticity in heated forging dies while maintaining an optimal lead dispersion that ensures clean, rapid chip-breaking during secondary CNC machining, boring, and threading.
