UNS C36000 (standardized under ASTM B16) is the global benchmark material against which the machinability of all other copper alloys is measured (Machinability Rating: 100%). Commonly referred to as 360 Brass or Free-Cutting Brass, it is formulated with 60%–63% copper and 2.5%–3.7% lead. This metallurgical balance provides high-speed cutting capability, natural lubrication at the tool edge, and fine chip fragmentation for automatic screw and CNC machine operations.
